Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

At YSI, we prioritise your data privacy. Any personal information, educational background details, or NYSC credentials you upload are secure and verified solely for programme cohort placement eligibility checks.

2. Data We Collect

We collect your registration credentials (name, email, phone) and application profiles (qualification records, graduation details, state of origin) as part of Digital Public Infrastructure guidelines.

3. Security

All file uploads are saved to private storage blocks with restricted access. System administrators and assigned reviewer panels alone hold access permissions to read applications.

4. Help from Google's Gemini AI

We use Google's Gemini AI service in two places. When you apply, your three written answers about your motivation are checked for whether they give a reason for applying; nothing else about you is sent. When you send a complaint from the platform, its words (with your name, email addresses and phone numbers removed) and any screenshots you attach are sent so the AI can suggest how urgent it is and who should handle it. You can tick "Don't use AI on this one" to keep a complaint away from the AI entirely; a person reads every complaint either way.

The AI never decides anything. A member of the YSI team reads every complaint and approves any reply before it is sent. Screenshots attached to a complaint are deleted 90 days after the complaint is resolved.

5. Questions from the public site

When you use "Ask us a question" or the contact page, we keep your question, your name and email address if you give them, the topic you chose, the page you asked from, your browser's description of itself, the time, and a scrambled form of your internet address that lets us limit and block abuse without keeping the address itself.

Your question is read by the YSI team members who answer questions, and nobody else. If you give an email address we send you one short acknowledgement and then our answers; these emails never repeat what you wrote. Anybody with your private link can read the conversation, so keep it to yourself. We do not use AI on questions at present; if we start, a question sent with "Don't use AI on this one" ticked will never be sent to it.

We keep questions while we decide how long they are needed, and will say here when that changes.
